In the middle of the central business district, the Gym and pool are in the basement of the attractively restored Old Government Building,"the OGB", which also houses a fine dining restaurant, boutiques and up-market apartments. An exclusive club with capped membership, the clientele is predominantly corporate and Heritage Hotel guests.
$120, 000 worth of state of the art equipment has just been installed.

Centre manger is Alex McDonald. Personal Training Co-ordinator is Broni McSweeney. Some 9 Personal Trainers operate out of this club.

Lap swimming only. 22 metres. Two lanes

A small gym. Core conditioning using free weights and Swiss balls is the focus here. There's a limited amount of cardio equipment none of it more than two years old – bikes, a rower, a treadmill, and a standard stepper. Despite these limitations there's usually no waiting to use the equipment in this exclusive gym.
Plenty of free weights and one multi - use resistance station.

Membership only - Charge ranges from $20 - $30 per week depending on services required
No charge to Heritage Hotel guests for admission to gym and pool

Situated in the central business district the Clarendon Club offers a gym, sauna, spa pool, sunbed, massage and various health and beauty services. The gym's cardio equipment includes eight Lifecycles - upright bikes, three Lifestep steppers, three Concept II rowing machines, four treadmills. It also has a good choice of free weights up to 20 kg, a comprehensive collection of machine weights and a range of Keiser air powered strength training machines.

Separate sauna and spa pools are accesed from the well appointed men’s and women’s change rooms. Therapeutic, relaxing, sport and stress massage are available at reasonable rates.

Definitely up market with a clientele best described as corporate.

On the edge of the Inner City area, this is one of the biggest gyms in Christchurch - over 33,000sq feet floor space and fully equipped with a large range of up to date equipment. Around fifty aerobic and circuit classes on offer also yoga and pilates - check the Timetable Line

Owner Steve Barry says he doesn’t aim for the “lycra -elite” market, but encourages a relaxed atmosphere attracting a middle of the road membership from teens to seventy year olds. Pro-fitness is the official fitness centre for the Canterbury rugby and cricket teams, the NZ cricket team and the Flames netball team. "Style" magazine Autumn 2000 rated it “Best” gym in Christchurch.
