Situated alongside the Arts Centre and five minutes walk
from the Central Business District, this is a major centre
offering a variety of facilities and classes. In addition
to fitness facilities it has a café and reasonably
priced modern accomodation.
The small gym, popular with office workers, has an adequate
range of older equipment - cardio and weights. Cardio
includes two steppers, a grinder, five upright bikes,
four rowers, two treadmills and a cross trainer. A basic
but adequate collection of machine weights, and free weights.
There’s a separate stretch room, and an aerobic and circuit
studio. Overcrowding is not a problem and at peak times,
4.30 to 6.00pm, there’s no waiting to use equipment.
The center also has five squash courts, a badminton court
a mixed sauna, 13 metre climbing wall, and bouldering
wall. Highly recommended and no experience necessary.
Its closeness to Hagley Park makes this facility a popular
starting point for runners and joggers. For $ 2.00 you
can use the lockers and showers Staff will give you directions
to running tracks if you don’t know Christchurch

bikes, a grinder. There's a comprehensive range of free
and machine weights. Clean and bright with a great view
over the swimming pool while you’re on the bikes or treadmills

A tiny gym with a limited range of equipment in the Inner
City Business District. Set up eight years ago as a rehab
facility it now also has a general clientele. Prides itself
on being friendly and unintimidating, which it certainly
is. Cardio gear consists of a Concept II rower, bike and
treadmill. Theres a reasonable range free and machine
weights. Not crowded and apart from the after-work rush
there’s seldom a wait for equipment. Attached to a Sports
and general medicine practice, services available here
include physiotherapy, sports massage and podiatry
