In the middle of the central business district, the Gym and pool are in the basement of the attractively restored Old Government Building, "the OGB", which also houses a fine dining restaurant, boutiques and up-market apartments. The clientele is predominantly corporate and Heritage Hotel guests.
Personable Louis Iijima is Operations Manager and coach /trainer. Louis who hails from Japan is a “Drum ‘n Bass” composer and DJ in his spare time. He represented Hong Kong in the 1994 / 95 Triathlon World Championships and was swimming coach for the HK Triathlon National Squad.

Lap swimming only. 22 metres. Two lanes

A small gym. Core conditioning using free weights and Swiss balls is the focus here. There's a limited amount of cardio equipment none of it more than two years old – bikes, a rower, a treadmill, and a standard stepper. Despite these limitations there's usually no waiting to use the equipment in this exclusive gym.
Plenty of free weights and one multi - use resistance station.

6.00am – 9.30pm daily

Membership only - Charge ranges from $20 - $30 per week depending on services required
No charge to Heritage Hotel guests for admission to gym and pool

A separate leisure pool has fun things for kids fountains, bubble and vortex pools and a “lazy river” channel. The centre also has a sauna, steam room and spa all open to pool users at no extra charge.

A good medium sized gym with all new equipment ( 18 months old in June 2001 ) – Concept II rowers treadmills, steppers, bikes, grinder bike and a good range of free and machine weights. Clean and bright with a great view over the swimming pool while you’re on the bikes or treadmills. The clientele are "middle of the road ". A fitness assessment is required.

Situated adjacent to the Central Business District this is another great value for money facility managed by Christchurch City Council popular with families and city workers – the gym is busy after 5 pm.
