It has recognised aerobic and anaerobic benefits, its easy on the joints - around 50% less impact shock than running.And it burns  as many calories as running.

A popular trail for visitors is Hagley Park.  Smooth asphalt surface, shared with walkers, joggers and bikers, it's carless and flat. Start from the park's Armagh Street entrance.

You can hire skates ( Saloman TR6 and FT7's) at the park. A van can be found  at the Armagh Street entrance Saturdays and Sundays from 11.00am to 4.00pm during summer and on Sundays only during the winter (June to September).
